The main message is comedy, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and what does makes you dead, that's funny. The sender of the message is the artist and the audience is people who have a sense of humor. The typography on this poster does follow the rules of typography, it has good kerning and tracking. The poster does incorporate the concept into the typography and the typography on this poster is a significant issue because it's the main part of the design.
